We had a very nice impromptu visit to my Dad’s house on the edge of Bodmin Moor last weekend. He has a lovely rambling house in the country, draped in ivy and heated with a 59 year old Aga.

We were sent out to scrump for pudding from the wizened old apple trees that are dotted around Dad’s well stocked veggie patch. He’s a bit of an old hippie and very much into growing his own, wasting nothing and reusing everything.

These apples made a very yummy crumble! The onions – not so much!

The WHOOP game!!!

We thought we’d share with you the way Team Treffry pass the time on long car journeys (and we must admit shorter journeys too!!)
We play a game called the WHOOP game, or the Yellow car game!

The rules are not too complex!! If you see a yellow vehicle you shout WHOOP and the first person to do so scores a point, the person with the most points at the end of your journey wins. Fun. There’s a few more rules to be aware of…
1 if two people WHOOP at the same time they each get a point.
2 vehicle is defined as one which has a steering wheel.
3vehicle must be predominantly yellow.
4 if you WHOOP Inappropriately your points get reduced to zero and you must start again.
5 no WHOOPing when engine is switched off.
6perhaps the most important of all, no fighting, it’s just a game!!

So have fun the Team Treffry way and let us know how you get on!!

(no advertising intended by the above and extra points in you can spot our covert yellow vehicle capturing!!!)
We must also credit the inventor of this yellow themed fun, Thank you Mr Justin Duance!!

A pretty package from a far off land…

A few weeks ago we received a wonderful looking package from one of our favourite customers. The lovely Mie runs a website called Hauska in Japan selling all the quirky European makes she has discovered on her travels (she even came to see us in deepest darkest Penzance recently!)

She also has what sounds like a very sweet pop up shop where customers spend the afternoon drinking tea and chatting (and falling in love with the things she’s found). Fellow West Cornwall friends and makers Abbot and Elwood can also be found in her little emporium.

The package had some pretty scrummy contents as you will see below. I would love to visit her one day and explore Japan….till then pretty tape and mysterious candy will do just nicely!
